How to find your host ID

To identify your host, you will need to download the license management utility (lmutil) and run it on the computer where you are going to install the product (for standalone license), or on the license server (for server licenses).

  • For Windows hosts:

    • Download lmutil.exe to your workstation or license server host.

    • Press Win + R on the keyboard to open the Run dialog.
    • In the Run dialog, type cmd and Enter to open the command prompt.
    • At the command prompt, change to the folder where you have saved lmutil.exe, for example:

      cd /d "C:\Users\User Name\Downloads\"

    • Execute the following command in this directory:

      lmutil.exe lmhostid -ether

  • For Linux hosts:

    • Download lmutil to your workstation or license server host.

    • Open your terminal and change to the directory where you have saved the lmutil executable, for example:

      cd ~/Downloads/

    • Set executable permission for lmutil:

      chmod +x lmutil

    • Execute the following command:

      ./lmutil lmhostid -ether

When you run lmutil, it reports the host ID, for example:

lmutil - Copyright (c) 1989-2021 Flexera Software LLC. All Rights Reserved.
The FLEXnet host ID of this machine is "2c30339f8d5f"

Copy the quoted string of characters ("2c30339f8d5f") to the Host ID field in the request form. Sometimes the host ID contains two or more strings, for example "2c30339f8d5f 902b341ad3f7". In this case, copy the entire quoted string with spaces to the Host ID field.
